LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't connect

Hi guys I'm getting trouble with the TL-WN722N, I'm able to "see" my wifi network but unable to connect even if I put the password. The system try to connect but unfortunally the green led doesn't blink. Of course Itested it on Windows 8.1 and the Dongle works.I had a look through ./wirless.info txt and seems somthing related to the country code ( I'm in Italy) but I'm not sure.
Could you help me?

Google search on the chip, "0cf3:9271 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR9271 802.11n", doesn't turn up anything promising. It may be the quicker route to sell it and buy another USB dongle. For example this one is reported to work perfectly: http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware/view/21041. You can search the hardware database for more reviews.

This chipset should work out of the box in Linux Mint 17.x.... I found this, maybe it'll help in this case as well:

Thank you for your tip, but the TL-WN823N is reported to work on Quiana release. I tested TL-WN722N on Maya before buying.
There is a tool to extract driver and FW from Maya and install on Rebecca?

You might be correct on the country code part but I am not sure why it is using CN for the code so

If you think it is an issue with the kernel modules, I would have suggested the newest stable backports as backports from 3.16 are likely a few steps behind the 3.13.0-46 kernel modules due to how Ubuntu patches their kernels.

On the ath9k_htc driver it is often possible to improve signal strength / connection quality using:

Also, since you messed with drivers quite a bit, it may be good to confirm using "inxi -N" that the ath9k_htc driver is still loaded for your device.

@ JeremyB: this command for USB device with ath9k_htc driver is distinct from the one you used, for PCI(e) devices with ath9k driver. Note that ath9k also accepts "nohwcrypt" as argument, but ath9k_htc does not load if you do that, it needs "nohwcrypt=1".
Also, building the wireless backports for one driver only (IE ath9k in your case) disables other wifi drivers. But that's not a problem here as the ath9k_htc driver is also included when using make defconfig-ath9k.

You don't need to do that. ath9k is a driver for PCI(e) devices, it will never conflict with a driver for a USB device.
