Chili555's answer there has me thinking he doesn't believe the backports are needed but unfortunately he is vacationing for a while yet. Do you happen to have the install media for LM17 or LM17.1 that you could try to see if the USB wifi works in the Live version?
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
I removed the blackport and execute the command code posted.
I can install both LM17 LM17.1. With LM13 (maya) it works well, I could also install LM13 but Iprefer use the new one.

Can you try the 64 bit version of LM17.1 as it worked with Maya 64 bitmariogds9 wrote:I removed the blackport and execute the command code posted.I can install both LM17 LM17.1. With LM13 (maya) it works well, I could also install LM13 but Iprefer use the new one.Code: Select all

Yes, I can try the live dvd becouse the celeron duo doesn't support 64bit. I'm working on a very old computer.
Now I'm downloading the distro and the test it.

I wonder exactly why 64 bit worked in Mayamariogds9 wrote:Yes, I can try the live dvd becouse the celeron duo doesn't support 64bit. I'm working on a very old computer.

Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
I tested LM17.1 64bit but as I thought the dongle didn' work. I have installed in dual boot LM13 Maya 64bit ( Iwas wrong, celeron D is a 64bit processor) and I' replaying via TL-WN722N. I don't know how work around this problem on LM17.1 64bit that I will install tomorrow. A solution could be to buy asus N13, even if I'm not sure it really wors out of the box.
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
Strange that this https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/ ... e-n150usbl has the same chipset and the seller claims it works under LM 17, 17.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10mariogds9 wrote:I tested LM17.1 64bit but as I thought the dongle didn' work. Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
It seems a good solution. I do not understand how the same chipset has a different behaviour depending on the brand. Of course something into the kernel has been changed in a way that some dongles don't work. I hope in a patch as soon as possible becouse the problem isn't to buy a new dongle bat to "see" tl-wn722n working on LM17.1.
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
Some Celeron D's do support 64-bit, some don't. I have an Acer computer here which is supposed to have a 32-bit Celeron D 335 according to specifications, instead it has a 64-bit Celeron 336 built in for some reason. It is quite surprising that a budget manufacturer like Acer (we're talking about 10+ years ago!) used a more expensive version of the processor in a low-end desktop system.mariogds9 wrote:I was wrong, celeron D is a 64bit processor

Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
Not sure why the posters WN722N doesn't work but I got one to try and it works very well in LM 17.1 Cinnamon
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
what did you do to have the dongle working?
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
I just plugged it in, switched off my internal card and entered my password for my wifi networkmariogds9 wrote:what did you do to have the dongle working?

I followed the same procedure , but unfortunately I havegot the following : Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/1' failed in libnm-glib
Is there a workaround for this.

Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
That error seems to be a Network Manager issue, so try and it might need a reboot
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install --reinstall network-manager network-manager-gnome
Re: LinuxMint(17.1 XFCE 32bit) TP-Link TL-WN722N doesn't con
Hi Jeremy, I have got any result applying the code you suggested . I tried also WICD ( removing first network manager) but the result has been : any wifi connection. I really don't understand why this dongle doesn't work with LM17.1 on my desktop.
