Intermitant wifi

I upgraded to 17 and the wifi keeps dropping off. I have tried several things and crashed the system so think I need some help please. The Laptop is an acer inspire one. The result of inxi -n is below
Network: Card-1: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter driver: ath9k
IF: wlan0 state: up mac: 9c:2a:70:31:d6:5d
Card-2: Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller driver: r8169
IF: eth0 state: up speed: 100 Mbps duplex: full mac: 08:9e:01:6d:de:a8
Any help appreciated.

I have updated the kernal to 3.13.0-46 and downloaded firmware non free.

OK. Do you have Bluetooth enabled? If so, disable it and check whether the connection improves.

I uninstalled it yesterday when I did a new 17 install and the problem has improved some what, but still does disconnect.

OK.... The driver is alright and this card should work well in Linux.

What you can try:

- set your wifi to "AES only" in the router, and make sure your SSID is *not* hidden;
- in the router, select a channel that's not much in use in your surroundings (pick only 1, 6 or 11, because only those have no overlap);

If that doesn't help:
- install all level 4 and 5 updates (not just the security ones), then reboot;

If that doesn't help:
- install the latest kernel within the 3.13 series, then reboot;

If that doesn't help:
- install the latest kernel within the 3.16 series, then reboot.
