Wicd not accepting password.

Post by CaptainFantasmic »

After fixing my other problem with ndiswrapper, I've ran into another. I've installed Wicd, and replaced the normal network mananger, but I can't remove it completely. Whenever I try to purge it says that it'll also delete cinnamon, cinnamon-screensaver, mint-meta-cinnamon, nemo, nemo-fileroller, nemo-share, and network-manager-gnome, which I'm sure I don't want to delete, I've disabled the applet, but that didn't work.

Any idea how to get rid of it? I tried disabling it with:

Code: Select all

sudo stop network-manager
echo "manual" | sudo tee /etc/init/network-manager.override
But I'm not sure if it worked, the applet was gone before I deleted it, so I suppose it has. I'm using wpa2 as security, and I know I put in the right password, I've tried doing it without a password, but it didn't let me.

mintWifi.py result:

Hopefully I can get this thing running soon, my patience is wearing thin. I've been working things our for three days now.

Yes, that's all very well and good, but that doesn't help me. It's nothing about the drivers, I know that. It's most likely something completely independent from drivers and whatnot. From what I've seen from looking around lots of people have this problem and none of them are answered.

EDIT: And yes, I tried them.
