Dell Studio 1735 Linux Mint 17 [SOLVED]

Post by computerguybry »

I have installed Linux Mint 17 on my Dell Studio 1735 and I installed firmware-b43- to get wifi, but there is a hardware switch set to off. On this laptop, the switch is in the panel. It seems to be a capacitive touch that turns off but I can't get it to turn on.

Any help please???

I found a setting in Bios that affects the wireless switch. By default, it is set to All (are controlled by the switch). I changed it to None (are controlled by the switch) and now it works.

Usually Asus laptops are the ones that have issues with hardware switch being off but no actual switch
