Wireless Driver Not Detected In Mint Mate or Zorin

Post by DoubleDave »

Hello,
I'm new to Linux and have posted to other forums and have tried all recommedations as suggested however no luck so far. I download Linux Mint side by side (Partition) so I thought, on my Laptop XP system. For some reason I can't see my XP any more just the Linux Mint on bootup. However, since using the Mint OS I haven't been able to locate any wireless drivers so I did run some commands in Terminal such as (sudo) however after the system runs the command the network disconnects on me each and every time I do this.

(Command is listed below with the out-put.) What I did was shut down computer and boot up off of Live USB once again. I notice the Mint OS runs fine off the live usb and was able to down-load several drivers. Now, I cn't do this with the one that is already installed like I said before it disconnects on me. My question here is should I reinstall the OS all over again? If I do will the new drivers show up in the new install? This is really puzzling to me like I said I'm new to Linux..now I've been at this for many weeks now and my othe PC with Zorin is doing the same thing....you will belo the out-put using Broadcom drivers in both PC's.

You see at the end of the output there is the "Segmentation Fault" what does this mean?

Terminal Output:

I would try a reinstall of linux mint, something is messed up and there is a good chance that bcmwl-kernel-source aka broadcom STA is why your ethernet doesn't work. This might get your wired working so you can remove bcmwl.

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bcm43.conf

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe b44
