Network USB Adapter

Hello,
Is It possible to use a wireless-N USB Network Adapter to connect to the internet the first time I configure linux? If yes, please tel me how

Netgear WG111v2 is one usb adapter,

but there are others

- it should be auto-detected @ boot or when inserted into a usb port.
then it should show any wifi connections that are available.

But I can't find it, The network configuration menu only show me the wired connections.
Note : My wireless adaptor is a linksys

then right click the network icon that is in the taskbar,
- edit connections - wireless
that should show any available wifi connections
