LM17: no wireless with intel 2915 abg kernel 3.13.0-32

Post by abcdef »

Hello,

My wireless card does not seem to be working on LM 17 with kernel 3.13.0.30. No wireless connections appear in the network manager applet. Furthermore, mintwifi says:

No wireless extension..???
Here's what inxi says:

Code: Select all

Network: Card-1: Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG [Calexico2] Network Connection
           IF: N/A state: N/A mac: N/A
Card-2: Realtek RTL-8100/8101L/8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter driver: 8139too
IF: eth0 state: unknown speed: 100 Mbps duplex: full mac: 00:0b:97:2f:e2:e9
I don't understand why the card does not work with kernel -32. With the default LM17 kernel, -24, it works just fine. I use the xfce desktop.
NOTE: I upgraded to kernel rev. -32 because I am trying to solve an issue with my video card. Kernel -32 seems to help with that, so I'd like to keep it. On the other hand, if it breaks wifi.....

Thanks a lot!

Can you boot into an older kernel using the "Previous LinuxMint Editions" in the grub menu? If you normally do not see the grub menu at boot, try holding the spacebar down at boot

It would be interesting to see what

Code: Select all

lsmod
shows for loaded modules when wifi does work

Thank you for your reply. Here is the output of lsmod on a kernel where wifi works:

Note that I've ugraded to 3.16, and wifi works there. However, I'm not yet sure what kernel is the best re my graphics problem, so I might end up reverting to an older version - therefore, the answer to that question is still useful to me :)
Thank you.
