[SOLVED] Only 45 Mbps with Atheros Ar9285 (b/g/n)

Yes it looks 65 Mb/s but the "b" is small, so its Mbps, but this card is 150 Mbps card (b/g/n!), not just 65. And my interent connection speed is 60 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, but i get only 45 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed in Linux Mint.

Yes its look its good, but i get ONLY 45 Mb/s NOT 60 Mb/s and thats the problem, but only under Linux Mint, under Windows 7 it's real 60Mb/s download, not just 45 Mb/s.

download the same 1GB file on both machines and time it, then come back and report.

I tried that today.
Avarge download (5 GB file from ftp) speed was 56-59Mb/s. I also checked the upload (1GB file from ftp) and it was 4,5-5 Mb/s - Windows 7 -

yes Mint17 takes more resources out of this machine so you have an overhead but it's less then 10% compared to windows 7 with dedicated driver, normal.
and the 2 machines are not totally the same I guess?

About the only other thing I can think of is to disable 11n on the router so it will only use 11a/b/g

What's the point of this? The other notebook works on 60/5 with same wifi card, so i need N speed, but i need fix in N under Mint.

well only one thing left to squeeze out the missing 10% speed.
Get the source code for the drivers (not the open source) re engineer it to get native linux support then compile them for your version of the kernel and check if it works.
all other tricks have been tried with the linux drivers.

You could install the 3.13.0-32 kernel with mintupdate or get the latest stable kernel 3.16 and see if it works

I try my connection with Elementary Os Luna (0.2) live and its works fine. I think the Luna use 3.2 kernel, so the 3.13.0-24 kernel is shit (like 3.13.0-27). So i will try the 3.13.0-32.

Update: With the lates Mint kernel (3.13.0-32) i have same speed, so the 3.13 kernel is whole shit.

If you find out for sure what kernel Luna uses, you could try that with LM 17. My internet connection is not fast enough to do any testing on, it is cellular and maxes out at 26Mbps

I use AMD so the 3.2 kernel not good for me, because the power managment is terrible.
