autoconnect to hidden wifi ap if in range does not work

Hi @all!
I have two aps configured with the same SSID on different channels.
I have configured the connection on my linux mint and can connect manually without problems.
The autoconnect flag is set and the connection is also allowed to be used by all users.

But mint does not automatically connect to the network after boot and login.
Any ideas?

I don't know what to say other than mine on one laptop seems hit and miss at startup, sometimes it connects before the GUI appears and some times I have to go in and connect manually
