WIFI networks no longer appearing

Post by brajawill »

I installed LM 17 and everything was fine with my wifi networks until now. Now, no wifi networks even appear, and I have to manually type them in under network connections.

The only change I can think of that may affect this is that I was just in Bulgaria (where it worked fine), and now I'm in Turkey (where this change happened).

Any ideas? Help, I'm a newbie. Thank you!

Run this script on the computer with ethernet connected, it will make a report named wireless-info that contains info that is helpful in diagnosing issues

Code: Select all

 wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/qjc87hzk1z5x6z0/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script

Ethernet/wireless, you just need an internet connection to download the script. Can you copy the wireless-info file from home to a USB or any method to post it here

See if

Code: Select all

rfkill list
shows anything blocked

And

Code: Select all

lspci | grep -i network
should tell us what network hardware is there

Do you still have the media(USB/DVD) that you installed LM with? You might want to boot it up and see if the same behavior exists, if you don't have many modifications or programs installed it might be worth trying a reinstall and not reformatting the partition you want to install to, as it should save some of the info in your /home folder

From the report the

Code: Select all

iwlist scan
only reports the one wifi network

I do not have installation media any longer. C'est la vie. As long as the internet works, then this is fine. Thank you very much for all your help!
