Hi,
I've just installed Mint 17 on my ThinkPad T440s with Intel 7260N Wifi card. My problem here is that it does not see any 5GHZ network, only the 2.4GHZ ones. I know my Wifi card supports 5GHZ because I've been using it with Mint 16 no problem. Any ideas of what could be the problem?

From what I found on google some of these cards were able to use the 5GHz band before updating to LM17/Ubuntu 14.04
Your card was likely sold as a non dual-band-no 5GHz support, the 5GHz just happened to work with the 3.11 kernel that lm16 used. have you ever tried it in windows?
One solution would be to use the 3.11 kernel in LM17 or to buy an actual dual band version of the 7260
Sometimes the model number of the wifi adapter is on the bottom of the laptop, if it model number ends with BN, it isn't a dual band
