Strange WifI Issue

Post by Masked D »

I have been using the internet in Linux Mint since 11pm last night. All of a sudden, I get a message that says no network connection. There is a red x near the icon(at the lower right coner) of the desktop screen. The enable option is greyed out so I am unable to use it. Strangely, the install disk detects WiFi and I did not need to set it up. Can anyone explain what is going on here. I greatly appreciate it.

A little more information would be helpful. What's the machine , and what wireless card are you using. Which Driver if you know.

First thing to try if you haven't already is a reboot. just to see if it was a temp glitch.

The that I am using is Gateway NV570p11u. The WiFi worked over my friends house. He uses netgear. The problem is that it stopped working last night on both netgear and the WiFi at my home. Here's the specs on the wireless card on the NV570p11u:

Wireless LAN Manufacturer: Atheros
Wireless LAN Model: WB335
Wireless LAN Standard: IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Do you need additional information?

I just re-installed mint from the live USB drive. It seems to be fine. My friend suggested that if it happens again that I get a dongle stick. Perhaps there is something wrong with the wireless card. Thanks guys.
