Hi,
After a shaky installation and repair process, I finally got Mint 17 to load up properly, with the exception of networking.
When I boot normally from GRUB, networking seems to be disabled. Network Manager attempts to connect to the wired and wireless networks (all the networks are found) but is unable to connect for whatever reason. Even booting into recovery mode and manually enabling networking doesn't help.
I've managed to get the wired network working by editing the /etc/network/interfaces file, but I can't get wireless to work. It simply refuses to connect to anything.
So I'm trying to figure out what went wrong, and what I need to do in order to re-enable networking on startup.

Re: Networking not enabled on boot?
Hi peek and welcome to Mint Forums,
First lets try this to see if we can get your wireless working.
Go to see if it offers you any drivers to install for your wireless card.
if it does install the recommended on and reboot. see if wireless is working.
If it does not offer any drivers.
go to a terminal and type the following commands and post the output here:

Re: Networking not enabled on boot?
Yeah it's not recommending me the drivers, here are the outputs
This is for the Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 kernel since I just upgraded. If I boot into my original kernel (3.11.0-12-generic x86-64), everything works fine.
There's no difference in the lspci output, and here's the output for lsmod for the 3.11.0-12 kernel
and here's the diff output
As far as I can see, the rtl8188ee (wireless driver), rtl_pci and rtlwifi modules are the same between the kernels, except for a slight difference in their filesize

It gives me this
which it also gives me on the 3.11 kernel

Re: Networking not enabled on boot?
So basically I updated my kernel to 3.14.4 and the wireless works here as well
so it's just some weird quirk with whatever kernel version I received
