EZ Cast & Google Chrome Cast

Post by ChrisAJ »

Hello again,

Has anyone any experience of these dongle devices? In particular I am interested in their compatibility with Linux and also their effectiveness with Netflix.

If you feel they are a waste of money then please don't hold back in letting me know why.

Cheers, Chris

Got chromecast and netflix onto linux and youtube casts quite happily.

Got a problem with netflix in as much as it will not "instantly" broadcast. Anyone know a work round. I do also have silverlight installed.

Followed these instructions

Well, was 99.9 % there to switch to Linux, but if after finding EZcast device has Android but not easily locatable Linux utility, getting close to giving up and returning to Windows !

Hope someone can help me solve finding Linux utility that works with EZcast, before really do give up.

Thanks.

Got the same problem.
I'm abut trying Wine and checking the options here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2632288
Dropping L. against Ws does not make sense. The procons balance is clearly for L or you can set up a dual boot can't you.

How to get EZCast to work
Install the Chromium browser then add the EZCast Extension (via the Customize and Control Menu - More Tools, Extensions) then follow the Youtube video:

Connect your computer WIFI to the SSID of the EZCast dongle and then use the Settings to connect the dongle to your WIFI (for some mysterious reason this took several attempts to authenticate after entering the passcode) but I did manage to get it all working :-)
