PatH57, yes, there is no such thing there. The only thing that IS there is the first one that I see in your pic. the one that is highlighted, why would this be? Seems as though they should both be there as this is a common task?

Here ya go, thanks for the help!
I noticed one other thing also, when I was playing with the picture functions in the player window I accidentally pushed something that gave me FULL screen! but don't know what I did and could not replicate it lol. It was not the "Full Screen Button" either lol. that only gives about 80% screen ya know, like Non HD stuff.

PatH57, Before I do this, do they work together...because I did the Pavucontrol before and it did nothing by itself. So what is this doing, installing a driver for this? and then installing the pavucontrol to make use of it? Just trying to follow the intentions.

Hi,

aplay will just list the hardware.
pavucontrol is just a better software then alsa and detects more cards.

We are not touching drivers for the moment.

On the sound preferences screen, have you tried changing the profile setting?

I only get one entry on the hardware tab but in the list of available profiles there are a number of HDMI options. So I can select one for HDMI output. Unfortunately only HDMI or Analogue Sterio can be selected at one time. I haven't yet found a method of using both simultaneously or automatic switching.

@pcpunk

Open this file:

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

And add this line to the bottom: (if it's not there)

options snd-hda-intel model=generic

save and reboot.

I also use the applet here to switch quickly

@russellz
try this
