I Installed Boinc 6.12.34 on Mint 11 and when I launch it from terminal or if I click boincmgr everything works ok.
But when I make an application launcher in the menu or on the Desktop Boinc launches but can't connect to projects and keeps on "trying to connect".

How are you launching boinc? (what command on the terminal, and from what folder?)

I had the same problem. My Boinc folder resides in /home/user/Boinc, using ./run_manager to launch. I tried out Boinc 7.0.2 Pre-release, the problem doesn't occur. It's been running solid for a week and a launcher on the desktop works fine.
