Install of Mint after Windows

How many gb of space are required to install the latest version of Mint? Windows XP is alreadsy installed on a 160gb hard drive.

At least 10 GB.

Defragment XP and back up your files before installing Linux Mint.

No problem meeting those requirements. My current problem appears after selecting the partition where Mint is to be installed. It says:
No root file system is defined
Please correct this from the partitioning menu.

Don't know how to do this...

When you have marked the right partition, you click on Edit Partition, there you have to select / (just slash) for the mount point.
