Installer crashed: LinuxMint 16 Cinnamon 32 bit

I've been running Linuxmint on this laptop since version 12. I'm currently running version 14 Cinnamon 32 bit.

I put the linuxmint-16-cinnamon-dvd-32bit ISO file on a USB flash pen drive for a quick install. I get most of the way through the installation, up to the hardware configuration, and then I get this popup window:

So I click the "CLOSE" button and wait. Nothing happens. No bug reporting tool. I tried "bug" and "report" in the Menu on the live DVD but there's nothing there. Seems like your bug reporting process has a bug because it doesn't appear after an installer crash.

My Mint partition is small and I back it up twice a week with Clonezilla. I just restored my LinuxMint 14 Cinnamon 32 bit partition and posted this.

What meathod are you using to create the drive.

i found that using unetbootin for example provided me with that same issue but when i used imagwriter in 15 it installed properly. hope this helps

@calgrainger90: I use YUMI [url]http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/[/url] to install Linux Live ISOs on a USB flash pen drive. No problems in the past installing lots of different versions of different Linux distros, including LinuxMint, with YUMI.

YUMI in its current version 1.9.9.9 is in the process of rewriting. I found that I could not use it to install Mint 16 (MATE) with symptoms similar to the above ones: The installer crashed somewhere in the middle although the md5 sum was correct.

I used the Universal Boot Installer instead, which did work for me:

I also used UUI successfully after trying to use SARDU to install. I was able to use SARDU to build USB thumbdrives for my "Try it Out" installs of distros for Ubuntu, Zorin OS and Puppy, but it just would not work after 4 tries using different USB thumbdrives on LinuxMint. Once I used Universal USB Installer it was smooth sailing.
