Need to disable Secure Boot on new machine [SOLVED]

Post by fletcher »

Looked through this forum, did not find my issue.

I just got a new computer, HP Pavillion, with Windows 8. I want to get rid of Windows and go to only Mint 17.1 (and the ones that come later). But I cannot figure out how to permanently disable Secure Boot so that I can install and use Linux. I can get to a trouble-shooting menu, but none of the options there tell me how to permanently disable Secure Boot, only how to go ahead and boot from my flash drive to get into Linux.

Any help is appreciated. I would love to get this done today so that I can finish set-up.

Almost forgot to provide important info:
System: Hewlett-Packard product: 110-243w
Mobo: Hewlett-Packard model: 2B18 version: 1.00 Bios: AMI version: 80.03 date: 11/19/2013

That worked for the Secure Boot. Running into a different issue now, starting a new thread.
