I daresay it has nothing to do with the conky config because the same thing works fine on my Debian partition, however if anyone wants to have a look at it i'd be glad to post it here.

When a window opens over Conky...
...if i let the window remain there for more than a few seconds, my conky never recovers the blocked area. Switched from own-window-transparent to own-window-colour (oh yes, it has to be "colour" and not "color" only for this variable or the window gets assigned the default black irrespective of the color i choose), tried out different window-types too..that didn't help. Would welcome any guesses as to the cause, my imagination's run dry.
