Hello everyone
I just installed the new Mint Mate 17.2 . It's great, I ilke it
But, I have an unexpected problem with my compiz (yes, I like the cube and the wobbly windows). I have 100% CPU level all the time. More, the desktop freezes very often. Even stranger, when I use the Desktop Setting and set Marco as the desktop manager, I still have compiz using 100% CPU (????).
My previous install ran for years without any problem, and I had exactly the same hardware. All this is very new....
What information do you need from my machine and what can I do to solve the matter ?
Thank you very much for your coming help !
Cheers

Re: Compiz high CPU level
Compiz is always rather unstable and unreliable, even under optimal conditions.... However, some improvement might be possible in your case.
Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)
Press Enter.

Re: Compiz high CPU level
Nothing wrong in that list.... Even the right video driver.
You might try the easy generic solutions:
a. Install the latest kernel from the 3.16 series:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... el-updates
(item 3, right column)
Then reboot.
b. When no improvement: install the latest kernel from the 3.19 series. Then reboot.
c. When still no improvement: check for a newer BIOS / UEFI and when available, install it.

Re: Compiz high CPU level
I installed the latest 3.16 kernel and everything looks fine. Of course I will have to wait for a few days to confirm this, but so far, so good
Yes, there are sometimes problems with compiz, but I will migrate to another desktop manager the day they will implement wobbly windows and the cube. Until that day, I will stand with compiz.
Thanks for your help and have a great day
Cheers
