Installed Conky/can't see it SOLVED

Post by SkyBane »

Hello , I installed " Cores Conky " from noobslab . I followed these instructions --------
"""" To install Cores Conky on Ubuntu/Linux Mint open Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy the following commands in the Terminal:
Terminal Commands:
cd && wget -O cores-noobslab-gs.zip http://goo.gl/IZ5bH
unzip cores-noobslab-gs.zip && rm cores-noobslab-gs.zip """"

It did not show up on my desktop . I googled the problem and found this ( http://teejeetech.blogspot.com/2012/12/installing-conky-on-linux-mint.html ) It seems to have the answer , BUT , I have real problems once it gets techy :( I have shrapnel in my head/brain and have trouble with new ( to me ) words/terms and keeping track of too many steps .
I got lost at the point where he says---
" Open the .conkyrc file in a text editor (command: gedit ~/.conkyrc) "
I have no clue what the text editor is or how to access and use it .
I've only used the terminal a little bit so I'm still a newb .
If someone would be kind/patient enough to help walk me through this please , I would be so happy :D

---------- After 11.5 hours of researching this it came down to simply typing " conky " in the terminal . ---------- Now it's on my desktop and I'm very happy with it .

I have Mint 15 64bit Cinnamon on a comp I just built . I don't know if you need it but my hardware info is ---
Asrock FM2A85X Extreme 6
AMD A10 5800k
2 X 300gb VelociRaptor
4 X 2gb Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer
Seasonic 520w 80 bronze
Vizio 37" hdtv for a monitor
