Heya
I only run the update manager once a month or so, I ran it yesterday and now cinnamon does not run, it gets to the login screen then, after login it closes with a message saying i was logged in less than 10 seconds.
I have installed mate via command line from the recovery boot and now I can use the system with mate no problem.
When I ran the update manager, i did notice one of the packages to be removed was cinnamon, i was a little concerned but thought it must be correct.
I am going to do a total rebuild when mint 18 arrives, so don't want to have to anything before then.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
have fun all

ok this is strange... when I tried to reinstall cinnamon from the command line in recovery, it kept failing, but I have now managed to reinstall cinnamon from the mate desktop..weird ehhh.
