Dell E6400 with Dual Boot Vista and Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 32 bit.
Can anyone tell me how to change the vertical spacing for the desktop icons? I would like to close them up a bit vertically. There is a lot of wasted space between them. If this has been answered elsewhere, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Click and drag. Right click on the desktop and deselect Keep Aligned.
Then you can click on the icons and move them in a linear fashion instead
of snapping to a grid

Is there any way to change the alignment grid settings?

I don't know how to do this.
Just bringing the subject back into view --surely someone knows how to do this.
