[SOLVED] Nemo crashes when using drag n drop on any files

Post by noobxgockel »

Finally i solved it!

And it fixed a whole lots of errors too, like youtube and other maximizable content not going into fullscreen properly.

Solution:
Dont use Xinerama, even if its tempting when you see it in nvidia-settings. Just dont!
Update Nvidia drivers and use the Base Mosaic found under advanced settings instead!

Old Post:

Hello there,

first of all i tried to use the search function, but it didnt give me any proper results. So sorry if this is a duplicate.

My Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela x64 Cinnamon (fully updated with update manager) crashes on drag and dropping any files in nemo or on desktop.
It did that since the fresh installation, it just didnt bother me enough to post anything about it :D

Nemo seems to crash fully and if started in terminal the following output is generated:

Code: Select all

(nemo:5741): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'nemo' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 25022 error_code 3 request_code 141 (Composite) minor_code 8)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Trace/breakpoint trap
Im quite new to the whole linux thing so i dont really get what they mean by this... I tried looking into the Xorg.0.log file but it doesnt contain anything useful:

All the hashes are equal.
