screen freezes.
Hey all,
I've recently installed Mint 17.2 Cinnamon for the first time, I have experienced a few instances of the screen freezing, the cursor does not move and I need to restart. What could be causing this? Possible video driver issue ? H ow can I trouble shoot this?

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)
Press Enter.

Re: screen freezes.
Your computer might be too new for your current kernel. Install the latest kernel from the 3.19 series:

Afterwards, reboot your computer.

Better remove it. That's definitely bad.MintyBush wrote:Hi,

Re: screen freezes.
You ran out of disk space.gzip: stdout: No space left on device
Re: screen freezes.
Ahh, in the end i uninstalled the 4.2 driver and upgraded to a new nvidia driver... stil testing atm.
Re: screen freezes.
OK,
I thought this would fix it but I got a screen freeze again but this time when i go to nvidia xserver settings via the system tray I am unable to set which gpu i want to use. (I have a choice between the nvidia card or the onboard intel gpu).
I did install a bumblebeee update if this is a potential suspect?

Re: screen freezes.
The nvidia system tray icon has been replaced with an icon with an 'x' that says 'Active graphics card: Unknown'
Re: screen freezes.
I had the same problem with freezes when installing mint 17.2. They were random and all over the place.
Also had random text issues where letters were not displayed correctly.
Installing kernel 3.19.0-31 ended all the freezes and text issues for good.
