Manually updated NVIDIA driver, now Cinnamon crashes on boot

Post by rnsngshpkng »

Hello all!

I'm running Cinnamon 17.2. Everything was going well until I manually updated my nvidia driver to 352.41. This involved logging out and killing xorg. On reboot Cinnamon crashes, and goes into Fallback mode. I've tried many things, but nothing seems to fix it. I've purged the nvidia drivers, reinstalled xorg and cinnamon, and reinstalled old Cinnamon driver (304). Still it crashes on boot.

The output of running inxi -Fxz

Try the nvidia-352 driver by means of the graphics-drivers PPA:

(item 1, left column)

After the installation, reboot your computer.
