Missing icons/text in some menu bars

Post by Kryuysi22 »

Hi,

I have upgraded from Mint x64 17.1 to 17.2, now I have some problems with cinnamon (I think it's cinnamon related).
In some programs (Gedit, Libreoffice, etc...) I can't see text/icons anymore: look at these screens

What problem is that? How can I solve it?

Thanks

Try to switch too the default themes. After that restart Cinnamon (ctrl-alt-esc).

How can I do that? Do I have to go to Settings/Themes?

Yes. Choose as theme Mint-X or Linux Mint (all type of themes).

ok thanks, the problem was with the custom effects. I unchecked them and now I solved the problem with the top menu.
But I still have the problem with libreoffice.

Go in LO to preferences -> personalization and try to switch the theme.

Another attempt:

Close LO completely, don't forget the quick starter.
Open your file manager and make hidden files visible.
Go into the folder .config and rename the sub-folder libreoffice to libreoffice.bck.
Start LO and check, a new LO-profile gets automatically created, this might take some more time for the start.
What do you get?

For getting back to your old profile:
Close LO completely as above.
Delete the sub-folder libreoffice.
Rename libreoffice.bck back to libreoffice.
Start LO.

Would have been good, if you would have written at the beginning, that you use LO 5. I cannot help you with this, because I always use the so called still branch, as long as its life cycle did not reach the end.
