Enable touchpad using only the keyboard?

Post by xoverlord6 »

Hi, my mouse ran out of battery out on me earlier and the only way I could use my computer was with the keyboard since I had the touchpad turned off. Is there a way to easily turn on the touchpad using only the keyboard?

Eventually I got it, but the System Settings are hard to navigate with keyboard only because you can 'tab' through controls, but there's no visual indication of what control is selected.

I'm using Mint 17.2 with Cinnamon and default (Mint-X) theme.

Hi xoverlord6 and welcome to linux Mint.

Glad you got it going they is a simple terminal command that can turn on or off most touch pads. it's

Code: Select all

synclient TouchPadOff=1
for off and

Code: Select all

synclient TouchPadOff=0
for on.
