Battery indicator after upgrade to 17.2
Today I upgraded my two laptops to 17.2 with Cinnamon 2.6 and on both I have the same problem: The battery indicator in the Gnome panel does not display the percentage. It does display being drained somewhat after a while, but then it becomes full again randomly.
It is not display the status correctly or consistently. Battery readouts through other means is just fine.
Any advice?

Re: Battery indicator after upgrade to 17.2
Going into Settings > Applets > Power I was able to display the percentage in the tray. The battery icon is pretty much useless now, but at least I can see the status of my battery without having to hover over it.
Re: Battery indicator after upgrade to 17.2
Previously, in the Power Management Applet, it was possible to add Percentage, but also Time remaining
Would it be possible to get this feature back ?
Of course, Time remaining is available when overing the applet, but it should be possible to get is along the percentage, in the applet..

+1
I was disappointed to see that time remaining has been removed. This was a really useful feature not available in other desktops. OK so it was not always completely accurate but as a guideline it was very useful.

Re: Battery indicator after upgrade to 17.2
I found this bug is posted on the repo at Github. I did some digging around and found the problem was introducted in 2.4.1.
I solved it by using the applet from 2.4.0 again. (Mint 17.1)
https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/4329
In short:
The last two commands just gets files as they were in 2.4.0 and saves it to your current path. Sudo is required because it is a system directory.

In short:
Code: Select all
cd /usr/share/cinnamon/applets/power@cinnamon.org
sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/2.4.0/files/usr/share/cinnamon/applets/power%40cinnamon.org/applet.js

Re: Battery indicator after upgrade to 17.2
Thanks for that, I have a HP Pavilion DV5 and it's battery indicator also stopped working (always showed full, but showed correct percentage when clicking on it)
I first had the problem in Linux Mint 17.2 Xfce, then did a fresh install of Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon (for a different reason), and was surprised to see the same problem.
Running your 3 commands & a restart has restored it to working like I've gotten used it.
