I'm running LMDE 2, currently with Cinnamon 2.6.7. Not sure if I'm missing something or not, but I don't see anything in the configuration settings to do the following things with the panel:
1. Set the panel orientation to vertical instead of horizontal.
2. Set the panel width to less than 100% across the screen.
3. Make the window list icons-only.
4. Have the window list show icons from all workspaces.
I see the Cinnamon Window List All Workspaces applet at Cinnamon Spices, so I'm guessing that's the only way to accomplish item #4. Any way to do any of the other three things from within the default panel's settings?

To my knowledge: No.
Re: cinnamon panel - 4 things i'd like
Okay. Thanks!
Re: cinnamon panel - 4 things i'd like
That's really bad.
3. Make the window list icons-only is a must, it's a user privacy issue. It displays the name of document currently open in an application. Anyone just taking 2 second peek at your monitor can see what you are doing.
I hope this is addressed asap.
New Mint user hoping to do away with Windows for good. Mint is absolutely best distro for average Joe.
Thanks!

The applet 'Window List with app grouping' can be set up to show icons only.

Great tip, thank you.MintBean wrote:The applet 'Window List with app grouping' can be set up to show icons only.
Thankfully Cinnamon offers other ways to deal with window list. I can turn off Window list and use either Hot corners or Windows Quick list, and now your suggestion seems to do the job well too.
This is great, having choices
On another note, I finally figured out how to make Wine program a default for opening a file type.
Looks very good in one week using Mint.
Great job Mint!
Fills all my needs so far, I can safely say good bye MS.

You could also try installing Cairo Dock from the repos. This can do a dock up the side of the screen and a doc not covering the full width of the screen.

Thanks again for another tip. Will give it a try.MintBean wrote:You could also try installing Cairo Dock from the repos. This can do a dock up the side of the screen and a doc not covering the full width of the screen.
BTW Window List with app grouping does exactly what I want.
