Focus follows Mouse

Post by creiss »

Hey folks,

I am using current Mint Cinnamon Desktop, patched. I enabled "focus follows mouse", which seems to work after login for a few minutes, then stops working and falls back to "click to focus". The option in system configuration is still at "focus follows mouse" but no matter what, for the remainder of the session its stuck at "click to focus". A relogin helps, but this can't be the solution.

It seems that running some programs might trigger this phenomenon, like the "Baloon Tip" of nagstamon Tray icon. But even If i disable nagstamon (which helps) then some other(tm) Program causes this behavior.

Coming from UNIX/Linux I am addicted to "focus follow mouse" and this is driving me nuts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Another question I am squeezing in here is this: I am coming from Ubuntu where I could use my mouse-thumb-buttons as launchers (browser and terminal respectively), can I bind those buttons to these functions in cinnamon, too?

Cheers and thanks for all your help,
Christian.

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- launch a terminal window and make it fullscreen, to avoid chopped lines;
- copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

In fact there is not really an option "focus follows mouse". Rather there is a windows focus mode option, where you can switch between "click" (this is obvious, what it does), "sloppy" and "mouse". Which of both is used, does it change anything, if you switch between them?
