Mint 17.1 Cinnamon "notifications" happen for all sorts of reasons.
Is there some configuration files or tables or something that affects notifications, or does each app that creates a notification use its own parameters according to a standard of practice like "display for 3 secs", "use this size/shape/color", etc.
I know about libnotify and notify-send, but I have not read the source code.
I've looked all over the disk for any sort of "notify" files without success.
Really, REALLY? I've got to read the code to get any answers to this?
Thanks in advance,

Re: how can I "configure" notifications
You can change the CSS properties for your current Cinammon theme in /usr/share/themes/your_chosen_theme/cinnamon/cinnamon.css (preinstalled themes) or in /home/SaintDanBert/.themes/custom_theme/cinnamon/cinammon.css (for installed themes). Or install NotifyOSD and use it's GUI editor -> http://www.webupd8.org/2014/04/configur ... s-for.html

Re: how can I "configure" notifications
As I look at the CSS approach, it seems that is the way to alter the appearance of notifications. While good to know, I'm trying to alter the operation of notifications.fresh_user wrote: You can change the CSS properties for your current Cinammon theme in /usr/share/themes/your_chosen_theme/cinnamon/cinnamon.css (preinstalled themes) or in /home/SaintDanBert/.themes/custom_theme/cinnamon/cinammon.css (for installed themes). When I try to install NotifyOSD, I used Configurable Notification from "webupd8.org" It seems based on *buntu 14.04. I'm running Mint 17.1 with Cinnamon desktop and have applied all of the available patches based on 'mint-update.'fresh_user wrote:Or install NotifyOSD and use it's GUI editor -> http://www.webupd8.org/2014/04/configur ... s-for.html
- when I use 'apt-get upgrade' I get a full screen (about 50 lines) of packages to process
- when I try to install NotifyOSD, I'm told that the package cannot be found.
Thanks,
