To compare, I add Menu/Accessoris/Text Editor, it's done on desktop.
I rembered that it's easy to add the termial icon on desktop in CentOS6.4.

Cannot add terminal icon into Desktop
I tried to add terminal icon(Menu/Accessories/Terminal into Desktop, but nothing there, but instead in the panel after tried severial times. is there a bug?
To compare, I add Menu/Accessoris/Text Editor, it's done on desktop.

I'm using LM17 Qiana MATE. If I open the Menu and navigate to System > Terminal and then press the right mouse button and select Desktop from the choices shown, a Terminal icon is placed on the Desktop.
Is this what you are doing?
