Hi. I have noticed that a lot of applications repeat in the list when I right-click and choose to open a file with another application. This is very annoying.
Can something be done about it? Please see the attached image for details.
Thanks in advance!

Yup. The linux implementation of mime is bad.
Look in
~/.local/share/applications/
and check for multiple "krita" files. ( something...krita...something.desktop)
They're text files and you can open them and see that file type they think they're associated with.
I sometimes delete everything from that directory ("wine" gets pretty bad there). You can remake the association with the "rt-click->choose app" from the file browser.
If you're still getting multiple entries, try in a terminal:
$ cd /
$ sudo find -iname "*.desktop" | grep -i krita
to check the whole system for multiple "*krita*.desktop" files.
(they're supposed to be in a certain place, but a lot of mime stuff is supposed to be blah blah blah, but isn't).

Thanks, I think that might have done the trick. For future reference, I deleted all the files named krita from /usr/share/applications/kde4, except for krita.desktop.
