Cinnamon 2.2.16 on 17 Qiana x86_64 freezes/locks up

Sorry, I'm not sure if this exact issue has been resolved before. Cinnamon 2.2.16 on LM 17 Qiana x86_64 Locks Up/Freezes under certain conditions. Sometimes when I first log into Cinnamon, sometimes when I have more than 2 apps active. Plus sometimes my computer just randomly turns off, no shutdown sequence. But that's probably another problem.

This has happened to me in the past when my CPU was overheating. Looking the specs you posted, the temp of your CPU at the time of your post was 85 degrees C which seems high to me. If my suspicion is correct that would also explain the random shutdowns - might be a thermal safety in your mobo kicking in to protect your processor.
