MDM and Mint 17 questions and problems

Post by malligt »

Mint 17 64 bit. Cinnamon desktop.

The problem occurs after I log out of Mint 17.

The mint login screen appears.

I return to the machine.

Now, I'd like it to shutdown, instead of logging back in.

So I click shutdown.

The login screen disappears, but the mouse pointer is still visible, and the machine will not shutdown.

The only way to shut it off is by holding the power button 4 seconds. WHY?

(This problem does not happen, when I tested this machine with Mint 17 Mate or ubuntu 14.04)

Thoughts? Ideas?

Thanks!

I just found this post. Do you think this applies to my situation?

FYI --- It's the default Mint greeter with the problem, not the Cloud greeter.

Hi,

if the problem was not there with Mate would think it is probably related to Cinnamon?
I can't see anything strange in your ouput and if this is the only obvious problem you see I would suspect cinnamon at this stage.
Check your syslog.
or run

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/log/syslog
and leave it open so you could see what happens if you try to shutdown.

Return to “Cinnamon”
