Cinnamon 2.2

Post by EmpireITtech »

With today's release of Cinnamon 2.2, should that be something we should/could try out on LM16 before seeing it on LM17? Has anyone done a Cinnamon upgrade from 2.0.14 (current) to 2.2?

Cinnamon 2.2 doesn't work on LM16. To add HiDpi support gtk3.10 is required. It's probably best to wait for Mint17 unless you want to test it on something like Ubuntu Trusty.
When I give opinions, they are my own. Not necessarily those of any other Linux Mint developer or the Linux Mint project as a whole.

Unfortunately, I cannot see they did something to offert a decent wifi manager. Turn off the wifi is a good way to sve energie sometime.

You can use the Network applet to put the Wifi card into Standby, but to turn off, you need a hardware switch (typically a FN combination on laptop keyboards). Cinnamon has been able to do the Wifi Standby feature since... (I'm not sure, but it's been a while)

Probably not.

As has been said all ready, if you want it now, you're better off installing Ubuntu Trusty and then installing Cinnamon, or finding a repository that provides GTK 3.10 and or GNOME 3.10 for your version of Ubuntu.

That won't work. If your on Mint 16 you already have Cinnamon 2.0. There is a reason why the cinnamon nightly builds ppa now only supports trusty.
