Just wondering, if i use my keyboard media keys and change the volume a huge ( over sized ! who thinks of these things??) icon appears.
How can i disable it? For practical reasons it inteferes with full screen games when changing the volume and can minimise the application.
Many thanks

You could try changing the sound-volume gizmo that appears on your panel...
gnome-sound-applet
cinnamon-sound-applet
volumeicon
... and there are more. Or try removing the icon from the panel and see if you can still change the volume.
I use "volumeicon" and it acts as you describe (I think) - a slider (that you can't slide w/mouse) about 3/4" tall and 3" wide pops up when you change the volume.
