I switched to mate since my workflow relies very much on compiz.
However my nautilus script is not working, they don't show up in the right click menu, no scripts menu item at all. Scripts worked in gnome3 before I switched.
Why?

ofc they do not work because MATE doesnt use nautilus
now depending on the script u might be able to make it work to copy them into caja-scripts
$HOME/.mate2/caja-scripts
(nautilus scripts are in $HOME/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts)
some might need modification also and replace gnome or nautilus stuff with mate and caja accordingly

Correct directory for caja-scripts / nautilus-scripts porting at LMDE UP4:
$HOME/.config/caja/scripts/

I found this solution since i work a lot with the script open-in-terminal. I just created a starter for Nautilus under the Mate menu. And now i cna use Nautilus with the script(s) ment for Nautilus!
