How to completely remove kde

I'm currently running mint 17.1 mate
I recently installed the kde desktop and found that I don't like it
so I want to remove it completely.
I used software manager to install it but software manager won't remove it.
How do get this off my system?

I took the liberty to assume you install this though "kde-full" package? In that case, you can remove all installed packages with this one command (wrapped over multiple lines here, but this is one command):

It's fine to start with this command if you installed KDE in another way. Any other KDE packages will likely be automatically removed as a consequence of this action.

After completing the above (and check what it says it will do before agreeing to it!), finish up by running these two commands:

OP: what are you planning on replacing it with? If you don't install another DE before rebooting (after removing KDE, of course) you'll be left with only a console/terminal. Of course you can always install a DE from there, but I just wanted to make sure you knew what you're getting into.

I just finished removing the kde desktop
It worked almost perfectly.
I restarted my system and everything was fine until I opened my web browser
that's when the system froze.
I did a hard reset and now everything is operating he way it should.
