Mate 13 Caja using 100% and not responsive

Post by johnny-s5 »

So I'm not sure what exactly I did. Everything has been working perfectly for years, then today I stopped a cat process (where you combine files) and my desktop has gone to hell.
Now when I reboot/login the desktop is displayed, but only refreshes every ~10s or so. I cannot launch caja from shortcuts on the taskbar, or the desktop. The 'caja' process is using 100% CPU. I can kill it, and it restarts, and slowly eats up memory until it's using ~100MB.
The thing is I can start it in a terminal using

Code: Select all

dbus-launch caja
and it works perfectly. Any idea how I can get my desktop and CPU core back?

Thanks.

Well, tried what I could think of and couldn't fix it.
Went to cinnamon, but I have a HDTV hooked up as a 2nd monitor which causes cinnamon to crash (xorg/X error)...
So now I'm using XFCE. A little getting used to but it works.

BTW everytime I log into MATE caja still goes insane, but other managers work just fine, go figure.
