Hello I need some help.
I loved gnome 2 when I used debian 6. So in order to maintain the same work flow I am now using mint 17 with mate.
But (there is always a but) On my workplace I use gnome3 and I just love the way I open application on gnome 3 with overlay. I just press windows key and its done. (the same is valid for unity dash)
I would like to have that type of functionality on mint mate. I tried synapse and gnome do but they do not let me to map Windows key (SUPER_R or MOD4).
Does any one know how to achieve this?

Re: Windows key
In MintMenu Preferences > Main Button tab > Keyboard shortcut, press Ctrl+WinKey.
After that you'll be able to assign WinKey+ keyboard shortcuts.
