Hello everyone, long time lurker finally registering. I live in Oaxaca and have been using Linuxmint since July.

Office Desktop: Mint 17 MATE w/Mint 17 Xfce rescue drive
Laptop: W7/Mint 17 MATE/SalixOS MATE triple boot
Nettop: W7/Manjaro Xfce dual boot
Netbook: W7/Manjaro Xfce dual boot
Backup office desktop: XP

I tried Linux for the first time around 8 years ago with DamnSmallLinux and about 4 years ago I tried a dual boot XP/OpenSUSE installation but neither stuck.

I started "distro-hopping" last April when XP expired and ended up with Ubuntu leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Despite being derived from Ubuntu, I decided on Mint for my new desktop. Mint has worked fantastically for me. I've continued with the "distro-hopping", but I always seem to return to Mint.

So far I've managed to "bing" and "ixquick" my way through any and all problems, but since I lurk daily on your forum I decided it was time to join.

I would like to commend the forum members for how tolerant and forgiving they are of newbies, on most other Linux forums I lurk on such is not the case. It surprises me how often new users are hostile but they are still treated graciously despite their rudeness.
