I have just installed LMDE. The internet connection works perfectly for firefox however when i try to update or refresh software choices i get

On a serperate note my sound only works for system notification noises and inside the browser. Music and film software don't. Multiple programs.
Can anyone help. I realise thats not a lot of info but just ask what you need and i'll tell you.

I don't know why you cant update I've never seen it before but it does seem like it's a connection problem ...
as far a sound problems its a known issue (?) with pulse audio not being configured correctly by default ... see the following post to fix it
