Re: I'm about to throw my laptop out of the window ........(Problems installing VLC)

VLC use to be the best, but I think the included MPV Media Player will do what you need. It is in the menu, give it a try.

Re: Help with downloading Bombono

Not sure what your trying to do, BUT have you taken a look at Handbrake. That is the software I used to convert all my DVD's to system files on my local system, and I use Plex to serve the to my local TV's and devices.

Re: Need help with a sunamu compile

Appimage packages usually work in Linux Mint. I use several of them. In your file manager, right click and select properties, then select the permissions tab, check the owner row Read, Write, and Execute for the group row also check all 3 options, and for the Others row check Read, and Execute. Clos...

Re: Upgraded i7 from 19.3 to 21.3. Very slow.

It looks like you have a spinning drive and it is 75% full, which is not good. Consider replacing is with a solid state drive with more capacity, and also you might want to run a low latency, or liquorix kernel to get some more speed for that 3rd gen processor.

Re: sound/microphone volume change by themselves

Not sure, but I think this feature comes in the newer kernels 6.5 up. If you go back to the original Linux Mint kernel the volume may stay the same as you set it. No promises.

Re: sound/microphone volume change by themselves

It is a safety feature to keep you from blowing your ears out. Every time you reboot volume will be at zero or muted depending on your hardware.

It looks like your paying more to get the smaller drive. I run a 1tb, and will soon up it to 2tb. https://www.amazon.com/WD_BLACK-SN850X-Internal-Gaming-Solid/dp/B0B7CKVCCV/ref=sr_1_1?crid=8LOGISYZK4QW&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.wkCKEWM1D83MZ5UoLyX5Vrzz8_J9CMeC91SehV3VMlj58yQbNYfYcbdwgh1YcKoR6qsPtwfbr-olS...

Have you looked at Pulse Audio volume control (pavucontrol). Click on the Output Devices tab and pull down the port selection. Change it from headphones to speakers.

Re: USB Keys are not recognized, dmesg says "device descriptor read/64, error -71"

It looks like your using a USB hub. Disconnect it and try the usb key directly in the motherboard port. Also check bios has USB key listed as first boot device. After that I got nuthin. :D

Re: Intel ARC 750 graphics card drivers

I actually have the ARC750. It works great. Any new kernel 6.0 and up will work. Every couple months they update firmware on the card and you will need a copy of Windows for the updates. Consider dual boot if you use this card to get the best results. Also your motherboard bios needs to be able to e...

Re: 'No codecs found' message on startup, and no audio?

The red jack on the motherboard IO panel is only line out, and not the TRRS combine mic and headset. It would not work as it would on the case front panel. Probably some kind of driver issue is why front panel audio is not working. Glad you found a work around.
