VLC Problems Since Update to 20.2
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this yet. But, I just recently updated to LM 20.2, and I noticed something odd with VLC. Before you ask, it worked fine before, but now, not so much. I haven't tested this with too many other formats, but now that I've updated to 20.2, VLC will play .mp4 v...

Re: I need help figuring this out
Okay. I just checked it, clicked refresh, and came up with nada. It says my system is up to date. Should I just ignore it. Or should I go to the software manager, remove pitivi, and then reinstall it?

I need help figuring this out
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but when I installed LM on my computer (it's a Lenovo and I'm running LM 20.1) I installed Pitivi from the Software Manager. Now, it's saying there's an update available. There wasn't any button, at least not that I could see, that would let me download and i...

Re: Battery Issues
Thanks for the responses guys. Like I said, I'm going to replace the battery anyway, and I'll do it soon. But, I was just super curious about the discrepancy. Right now, I've got a 2 TB HDD inside. I'm thinking about popping in an SSD that's at least the same capacity. I've got the 2 TB HDD in the l...

Battery Issues
Okay, so I've got this problem. I think it's mostly hardware related, but I noticed something odd. I've got an Asus Vivobook that's a few years old. I've had it for over a year now, and it was probably at least a year old when I purchased it. It's got an i3, which probably doesn't effect things. I w...

Re: Touchpad Not Switching Off
Update: I went into system settings, and I turned the touchpad completely off, then I rebooted. Both the mouse and the touchpad were able to control the cursor during startup. And when I say "startup", I mean from the point where the login screen appeared, to after I had logged in, and up ...

[Solved - Kinda] Touchpad Not Switching Off (worth reading though)
Okay, so here's what I'm looking at. I've got an Asus Vivobook (I don't know if this'll have any bearing on the problem or not). I've installed LM 20 onto it, and I've gone into the settings and set options for the touchpad so that the touchpad is disabled whenever I plug in a mouse. I do this becau...

Re: Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
Here's an update. I reinstalled LM 20, I did the standard install, but I did NOT enable LVM. Which was what I was doing all the other previous times. Once I did it this way, I was able to change the size of the swap file. So, if anyone else has this problem... Ask them if they enabled LVM during the...

Re: Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
This isn't about hibernation, it's about RAM. When I used LM 19.3, I installed Firefox and Chromium, but I used Chromium most of the time. After switching to LM 20, I started using Firefox most of the time. But I noticed that while using Firefox, RAM usage would spike and my computer would freeze. O...

Re: Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
...If I was doing it I would create a / of anywhere between 50 and 60 GB. And I never create a separated /home so I stop there. After the installation is done, then I will create various other partitions that I can/will use for data and can link them into the system, this way I'm not going to fill ...

Re: Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
what you can do, is to redo the Initial Setup - - manually. the LM20 installer will auto-partition the HDD, with just the one partition & with no /swap partition, .. just an swap file, as you found out. so, just use the Gparted program, from the LinuxMint Live Media, to pre-partition that HDD t...

Re: Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
Well, it said it was for LM 20. Here's the link: https://www.tecmint.com/install-linux-mint-20-ulyana/amp/ And, I just tried it again and now I've only got access to 36gb of a 2tb HDD. This is getting really annoying. I tried looking for other posts here on the forum. I found a post which provided t...

[SOLVED] Linux Mint 20 Installer Problems
Okay so, I'm trying to install LM 20, for like the 4th or 5th time. If I choose "Erase disk and install Linux Mint", I get the standard install. The problem comes with the Swap. On LM 20, I've discovered that it's not really a swap file, but a swap partition. Trust me, I found out the hard...

Re: Has anyone seen this before?
Did you by chance have the 32-bit version? I didn't check at the time I first installed it. I got it from the software manager, and I didn't think to look at the version number when I did. I just downloaded a .deb file from google and installed it. Now the Software Manager says Version 7.3.3.7721-r...

Has anyone seen this before?
If I had to guess, it looks like it has something to do with Google Earth, but I'm not sure. I saw it when I opened the update manager and clicked refresh.

Re: Window Tabs
Okay, so I entered the preferences and went to the behavior pane. "Open each folder in its own window" was already unchecked, probably because I never check that when setting up a new OS on a computer that I'm going to be using. But I checked "Ignore per-folder view preferences"....

Window Tabs
Okay, so I'm running 19.3 cinnamon, and I've noticed that when I open up a file window (not firefox or chromium), sometimes when I double click to open a folder, it opens the folder in another tab. I find it rather annoying, and I don't know how to turn it off. Anyone know how?
