Re: Migrating From 20.2 to 21.1
I had Mint XFCE 20.3 for a couple years and it initially looked like I couldn't upgrade to 21.1 so installed 21.1 but when I tried to bring in documents, pictures a blank documents, pictures file was created on the way to them and it was far from perfect. I would like to know if there is a way to d...

Xubuntu 22.10 can run risc-v software so the next release of Linux Mint 21 probably will too.

Re: Getting Mint computers out to people who need them
Hi: We are in Lacey/Olympia, WA USA but this can be done all over the world. We put our enhanced version of Linux Mint XFCE on a 32 GB flash drive and then can clone that to as many computers as we want with Clonezilla. Fox example we have one person who makes regular trips to Cuba that we provide s...

Getting Mint computers out to people who need them
I work with a computer vendor and while a percentage of their sales are Linux Mint I could deliver more Linux Mint computers to those who need them. Most agencies or organizations that do this are set up only for Windows. How do I get Linux Mint computers out to people who need them? Thanks, Joel

Dual boot install warning after Windows 7
Recently I helped a friend install Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE in 'install alongside' mode on what I thought was a Windows 7 desktop. It turned out the desktop was Windows 10 and when I tried to install through the normal procedure it made the Windows unbootable. It seems there should be a warning when thi...

How to change owner of all files with Nautilus
In Linux Mint XFCE we used to be able to change the owner and permissions of all files in a folder and subfolders with Nautilus. Now the option to change all files under username does not appear to be there in Nautilus. When we try to do that nothing happens. These files were copied into Linux Mint ...

Re: SOLVED: Wifi problems on Linux Mint 17.1 XFCE
I think this is a Mint software problem that hopefully will get fixed in Linux MInt 17.2 XFCE. I reach that conclusion because a lot of people are having the same problem. Right now reinstalling Mint seems to be the solution.

SOLVED: Re: Mint 17.1 XFCE won't burn to USB DVD
I am convinced this Asus A7D0AD013266 USB DVD R/W burner manufactured July 2010 has a hardware problem since I keep getting an input/output error when I try to burn no matter what computer I try it on or what Linux distro I try. I can still boot a DVD on it however. Various posts describe how these ...

Re: Mint 17.1 XFCE won't burn to USB DVD
I have been using DVD-R but they have always worked well in the past. Why would they be a problem now? I wonder has there been a change in the software to make this a problem? Thanks

SOLVED: Mint 17.1 XFCE won't burn to USB DVD
Previously I could burn DVD's on my Asus USB DVD burner with Mint XFCE but something changed on the latest updates so it starts briefly and then stops making the disc unusable. Any help or hint would be appreciated. Hopefully this is fixed in Mint XFCE 17.2. Thanks.

Kernel 4.0.0 on Linux Mint 17.1
I tried kernel 4.0.0 on Linux Mint 17.1 and could not find anything that did not work. However you probably want to do this on your test computer. If everything does work we should think about changing to 4.0.0 in the near future. See http://www.yourownlinux.com/2015/04/how-to-install-linux-kernel-4...

SOLVED: Wifi problems on Linux Mint 17.1 XFCE
The network-manager nm-applet on our Asus 1000HA netbook eventually fails to appear in the panel and you can't connect to wifi. After much searching and trying we installed wicd in Synaptic which includes wicd-gtk and put the wicd-network-manager in the panel which connects us to wifi. Linux Mint 17...

Camera download with Thunar file manager in XFCE 17.1
I prefer to download photos from my camera by usb rather than removing the sd card which can corrupt photos. With the new Mint 17.1 XFCE the Thunar file manager detected my Canon SX110 camera, I selected all and copied that to a folder in Pictures. Previously I used Digikam to do this but using the ...

Linux Mint for ARM processor computers
I would very much like to see a Linux Mint version for ARM processor computers. ARM computers are becoming increasingly common and we desperately need a version of Linux Mint to run on them. I have Bodhi Linux on my Samsung ARM Chromebook and like it very much, see http://jeffhoogland.blogspot.com/2...

Kwalletmanager has not been an issue for me but on my Asus eee 1000HA is was and searching for answers provided no real solutions. Turning kwalletmanager off was the only way to get a wireless connection. In the konsole or terminal enter kwalletmanager, go to settings - configure kwallet - wallet pr...
