Re: Screen Flashes Text on Shutdown/Reboot

Problem has disappeared with last night's update of:

Code: Select all

linux-generic,
linux-image-generic,
linux-libc-dev,
linux-headers-generic

from 5.15.0.101 to ~.102 via Update Manager. Must have been a bug in the previous version of one of these packages. Thanks to everybody for their input.

Re: Screen Flashes Text on Shutdown/Reboot

Just to clarify, it's not when booting up, it's when shutting down.

Re: Screen Flashes Text on Shutdown/Reboot

Okay, so poking around in the forums, I found this as a possible solution:

viewtopic.php?p=1900676#p1900676

Haven't implemented it yet... looking for a little feedback first from knowledgeable folks before I do.

Screen Flashes Text on Shutdown/Reboot

Using Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon on an Asus Zenbook 13 for over a year now. Recently upon shutdown or reboot, some text flashes on the screen for 0.02 seconds. It's too fast to read or even get a clear pic of (see pic) and it doesn't seem to inhibit performance, but I see it as a blemish in an otherwi...

Re: Please, does anyone know how to get rid of this reminder?

I think I finally found it. :D Months ago I installed Evolution to see how it compared with Thunderbird. I ultimately uninstalled Evolution, but it seems to have left remnants behind. The file, /etc/xdg/autostart/org.gnome.Evolution-alarm-notify.desktop was seemingly causing it in conjunction with ~...

Please, does anyone know how to get rid of this reminder?

Options to Snooze or Dismiss are only temporary.
It recurs monthly.
I need to find out where it's coming from so I can permanently delete it.

Re: How to shut off this annoying Calendar Reminder

I have dozens of calendar entries that recur monthly, but this is the only one I get an annoying notification from. I just deleted it completely from Thunderbird, and created a new one, worded differently so come September, I'll know if TB is even the source.

No, it's a monthly reminder. Comes back each month.

How to shut off this annoying Calendar Reminder

This seems like a beginner question though I've been using Mint for 10 years now. I am getting what I believe to be a calendar reminder from Thunderbird (I could be wrong, but it does say it's Mozilla ) and I have been unable to figure out how to shut it off. I have Notifications off in System Setti...

Re: ASUS Zenbook screen dims to minimum plugging in charging cable

Noticed also if I boot up plugged in, upon unplugging that first time, it will also dim to minimum screen brightness. Nobody has a suggestion here?

ASUS Zenbook screen dims to minimum plugging in charging cable

Recently bought an ASUS ZenBook 13 UM325UA-DS71, deleted Windows, and installed Mint 21.1 Cinnamon. Everything works great except when I plug in the charging cable, the screen dims to minimum (4%), and I have to adjust the brightness up again. Unplugging it is not a problem, and even plugging it in ...

I'm starting to think there really just haven't been any. In the meantime I've been looking at a MS Surface online (with better specs than my current laptop) to put Mint on haha!

Re: Update Manager no longer finding updates

Moem, you may be right about the Christmas update schedule. Looking at previous updates from last year, it appears only a few applet updates were installed at the time. So maybe there's not a problem where I think one exists? But in my attempts to rectify my perceived issue, I figured perhaps my Upd...

Update Manager no longer finding updates

Running Mint 20.3. The last update was December 18th, after almost daily updates on my laptop since I installed Mint on it over a year ago when I first bought it. It just tells me my system is up-to-date. But I'm sure that's a lie. I had been trying to follow the instructions to install Zoneminder (...

About 99% sure the problem was Easystroke. I was using it to map some of my mouse keys. Switched to Input Remapper and the problem is gone.

Re: Cinnamon crashing seemingly at random

The adapter I have in mind says it works with Linux (though the kernel version is lower). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008IFXQFU Wild, speculative question you may not have an answer for: I use a mobile phone as a WIFI hotspot for internet, as I travel a lot. Most of the time, I use a TP-Link ...

Do you think it may be worth it for me to buy a $10 USB WIFI adapter to bypass having to use the Realtek one?
